Chicken is a 4 month old rooster attacked by a dog august 31st. I took over caring for him a few days after the attack, I've never cared for an injured chicken before but he wasnt really being cared for and I didnt want him to die or be killed.

Injuries:
Puncture wounds on lower back/butt/tail feather area (healing okay)
Right leg looks partially torn off or crushed along the upper/dorsal side of tibia/fibula (above the hock joint closer to the femur)
Right hock joint is at a position that is lower than it should be (angle between femur and tibia/fibula larger than it should be)
Right leg has some mobility and strength but he doesnt want to put pressure on it or lay on right side

Chicken has mostly been laying on his left side - can't seem to figure out a sling that works and doesn't hurt his right side
Eating and drinking and pooping well now
Ferociously trying to stand up, struggling so hard that his wings shake with the effort
he now pushes out his good left leg backwards constantly and it's become twisted in a clockwise direction
Seems like he is healing with his pelvis/lower back twisted - I have tried to hobble his legs together so they are both folded under him which seems to calm him down but eventually he struggles so hard to get out and poops on himself so I have to remove the gauze/tape to clean him. not sure if it's good for him or not to have legs ties
on the
I can't get him to stay in a sling with feet hanging down
Also right next to his anus on the left side is a sharp corner of bone under the skin that is not present or is not in the sa,e location on the right side

Any advice on what I should do is appreciated, I know I have definitely made a lot of mistakes but he wants to live and walk so badly.

🥺 Sorry Chicken is hurt. Poor little guy!
If I were in your position, whether it is you treat him or no treatment, and I were set on doing all I could, I think I would see if the injury to his pelvis included fractures or breaks as if it did, he should be immobile on his feet as it could delay healing-- no matter how flustered he was about standing 😂
If it is ruled to be bruising or sprain at the pelvis, I think I would try to splint the leg which is worst. Maybe with popsicle sticks and the medical tape which is easier to peel so that it has opportunity to heal straight-- if it heals.
I would think he could also use it almost as a crutch and might be able to gain mobility if he was really determined and the splint offered enough support 😕
As for everything else, I think I'd get some good baby butt cream or some Hen Healer or something like that-- clean it every day with some epson salt water and apply that-- and hope he heals.
You are doing everything you can to help him. Care, time, and patience will tell.
Good luck to you and to Chicken.
