Dog attack ):

Yea we do the same here but i can't even come close to seeing my closest neighbor.
My pack of dogs would stop any starnge dog from entering this area anyhow so i have never had to shoot a dog or any other critter for that matter.
However if they live in a residental area or area with homes close by shooting may not be an option.

In this case they were, yes. I was replying to the other post, not OP's. It's a problem I have - I don't always make myself clear. I know what I'm thinking, so I just figure everyone else should, too!

I understand. Should I be scared?

I really like the idea of a large box trap set for the dog where the neighbors can see it.
Horsejody is right - the dog will return first chance it gets.

It is very rude for your neighbors to allow their dog on your property. But it is also beyond rude for you to allow your chickens to spend time on the neighbor's property.

There is no innocent party here. Keep your chickens on your own property and then the neighbors will be the only ones in the wrong.

The chickens should be confined to your own property and if you put up a fence, put up one tall enough to keep the neighbor's dog off your property and then you won't have any problems with the dog.

Let's assume that the chickens stay on her property until she tells us differently.

You should have grabbed the pitchfork and then called the neighbors to come scoop up their dead dog.
