Thank you for your response.Hope she will be all right again in a week or so. Imo: Often the best thing to do is to take care, wait and see.
Just provide food, water, a nice place to rest and keep an eye on her. If she is getting in more and more pain you can end her misery. But if there is no internal harm and its mainly fear why she is so numb, she probably will improve from day to day and will recover within a week or two.
Do you have no other chickens?
She is my only chicken. She found me, not the other way around. I did not want another chicken, but I will problem add another next April. I’m still debating on that. But I tell you she has been a God send. I am retired and don’t get enough exercise, but she sure keeps me going. Which is a good thing.
I just brought her inside again for the night and scrambled her an egg. She ate 2 bites. X
I assume that you don’t have other chickens? Can you see any swelling or green bruising on the entire leg? Is she limping? If you do have others, she might be more comfortable in a dog crate with food and water inside your coop. But if she is the only chicken, I would keep her in, and several times a day, offer her just small bits of scrambled egg, wet chicken feed, canned cat food, or canned tuna. I like to offer those up to the beak in a small bowl and have plenty of clean water. She could have an 81 mg or 1/4 of a 325 mg aspirin twice a day for pain if she is sore. If you have any pictures of her to share, that would be good.
I have a 9 month old buff Orpington and she was Attacked by neighbors dog.
When I got to her she was standing in a frozen position. Shocked I’m sure
I examined her and found no open wounds, no bleeding. Nut this happened yesterday around 3pm.
She is not eating, standing in one spot, was drinking yesterday but not as much today. I have her inside in a large dog cage with food and water. She is in a quite area covered up in my dining room.
I haven’t a clue what to do.. you can tell she is struggling tonight. She was laying down this morning, but not since then.
Something is wrong with her femur or upper leg. I’m guessing. I am no expert on chickens. She showed up at my place 9 months ago and I have kept her as my pet. I hate to see her suffer, I love this silly chicken and can anyone give me some advice?
If there is hope for her or not. I live on limited income and just cannot afford a vet fee. If I have to end her life, I will do it myself.
Just the thought breaks my heart. I need advice and a miracle. Thank you all very much!
