Dog barking and separation anxiety at night

block his view. keep him on leash and take him to lay down where he can't see the other dog.

letting him on the bed and getting love simply reinforces his behavior.

I find when I close the curtain he just barks even more cause he can't see it. But I guess if it was always shut and he couldn't see the dog to begin with he wouldn't know it was there

And i guess but wouldnt it be reinforcing him looking away not the barking????

And now he ran off the bed barking again. I tried enough and it worked for a bit but he keeps growling. He's pretty riled up, this time it's real, probably an animal eating all the BOSS I put out, but it's too dark to see. Now he's barking agai. Should I just discourage all barking? I guarantee it's just a critter, he can bark at the back door if something is after the chickens

you can give corrections. leave the leash on him. "enough" if he keeps barking or immediately resumes, give a leash pop and repeat "enough"

I'd also work on teaching a "watch me" command as well as "leave it"

Thanks! I'll work on that!

He knows watch me and leave it but watch me better than leave it. But both could probably use refreshing, I taught a year or two ago and he's not very good anymore
