Dog bit my pekin duck

My pekin is shaking his head like if he’s uncomfortable. His bleeding but not a lot. His check is also pretty swollen. And didn’t seem to really want to eat his favorite worm treats. Is there anything I can do to help him. Should I take him to the vet ??? I tried looking for the kind but his feathers make it almost impossible. I’m pretty sure the one is that one blotch of red near his beak on the bottom of his little chin. Please help!!

I would look closely for the wounds, since he has some swelling. You may have to pluck some feathers away from the wounds to clean them out really well.

If vet care is an option, that's always a good idea.

I have seen some horrific wounds that shouldn't be survivable heal. Once you know exactly what you are dealing with, have exposed it and then treat it daily, your chances are great. I could share a link to a chickens journey through dog mauling for inspiration but not sure if that would just be more upsetting for you. Just know ...you have got this.

Thank you and yess it was a little worrisome and I was super anxious for him but a vet came over cleaned his wound and applied some like glue to heal it !! He’s doing much better and his bite is still weak but he is eating now. Idk how long it will take for his bite to get stronger but thank you for sharing kind words!!!

Oh I am relieved for you! That's great. Poor thing. Looked so traumatised in the photo. Will take a bit to fully recover and get the confidence back too.
