You have hit the nail on the head.
Drives me nuts with these so called designer dogs!! There is a shop in our local mall that sells all of these mixed breeds for a small fortune, and they have "papers" for them, and immidate financing for anyone willing to spend $1200 on a "GoldenPoo", etc. What a huge rip off, yet they are always selling dogs whenever I pass them!
I do believe in the reputable breedeing (not dog farms), of AKC recognized breeds. After all different breeds were developed for different purposes, temperments, etc.
My Pembroke Welsh Corgi came from a good breeder, at 8 weeks old, and I had him nuetered as I have no intention of breeding. But this is my favorite breed of dog and I adore him, and his temperment is perfect for our family. I also have a Chihuahua terrier mutt that a neighbor was badly abusing and when I complained about the cruelty they gave me the dog. She too is nutered.
Bottom line is I believe there would be less unwanted animals if pet stores were not allowed to sell cats & dogs, and if there was more availabity for low cost spaying and neutering. In my area there is no way to get an animal fixed for less than the standard vetrinarian charge, appoximately $200.
Anyway I'll shut up and stop ranting now!
