Dog/Cat Food?????

If that's all you're paying for 50# of chick starter, count yourself extremely lucky! I can't find it for less than $12 a bag anywhere around here.

One thing to think about is that you should not feed chicken meat to chickens. Many cat and dog foods are formulated with chicken meat, and the chickens that make it into animal feed are almost invariably sick, dying, or kept in truly horrifying conditions. This sort of chicken eating chicken pattern is what gives cows who eat cows "mad cow disease" and sheep who eat sheep the creepy disease called "scrapie."

Anyway, I can't speak to the need to feed cat and dog food to chickens, but I would highly advise doing so with a beef or lamb food, NOT a chicken based dog or cat food. As a precaution.
