My husband wanted to get a larger water bowl and I realized that drowning was the reason for not getting a bigger bowl. I think we're all tired of changing the water every hour. They have pine shavings in the water within minutes. The pine shavings absorb the water. I keep thinking there's gotta be a better way. I'm thinking others have had the same water-bowl experiences?
Another point I wanted to add to this thread is that my cat is totally avoiding the chicks, and us. While we've had the chicks in the tractor, he's been MIA. We had them in a fenced-in area where he hangs out and he came around, appeared to just check it all out and then vanished the rest of the day. That was in an area where the cat's food and water bowl stays. I know better than to trust a cat though. I remember my father saying they always kept a cat around to manage the moles and other critters. They also let the chickens free-range. I want both!!!
