Thanks for your reply she 11 years old and cant keep her body as warm anymore but It has yet to snow and she came in shivering. She is about 135 pounds. And there background is mountains but she old so I need a coat that would keep her warm. What type of coat specifically (rain/water repellent, snow, fleece, etc)? And how big's the pup?
I can usually find large breed rain coats on Amazon, though sizing will vary depending on each manufacturer. For anything else, you might want to look into a custom order with someone on Etsy or a similar site, where folks can craft things to order.
Ok. Thanks so much I kinda searched there but didn't see much :/Going to be tough doing a custom order this close to Christmas, so might want to see if Amazon has any coats at all for large breeds. I was able to get my Anatolian 2 different rain coats at least, though she's a bit lighter than your girl.
I might just order a couple and see....and then check in to this etsy you speak ofGoing to be tough doing a custom order this close to Christmas, so might want to see if Amazon has any coats at all for large breeds. Etsy is basically an online craft fair. My smallest dog is hard to fit in "normal" coats because she has a whippet's build, so custom orders work better for her.I might just order a couple and see....and then check in to this etsy you speak of
Ok good to know thanks for all the help and hello from down in iowaEtsy is basically an online craft fair. My smallest dog is hard to fit in "normal" coats because she has a whippet's build, so custom orders work better for her.
Oh, this is an area I UNDERSTAND LOL, as you can see from my avatar photo LOL I also have 2 Irish Wolfhounds which are hard to fit. Try goat coats or mini horse coats. I think I've gotten my last few from Stateline Tack. Here's mini horse blankets (coats). Double check me but you measure from the center of their front chest, straight to the center of their tail. I think I'd try to get one that hes the "belly band" so it stays better and doesn't rotate: https://www.statelinetack.com/miniature-tack-and-supplies/blankets-sheets-and-sweats/2440/ And here's their goat coats: I think I went by weight on them: https://www.statelinetack.com/Search.aspx?query=goats I know with the Irish Wolfhounds the coats tend to rotate but IWHs have a weird shape, so son get frustrated and pulls out the duct tape LOL If you only need for a walk or shorter time, I think they'll be fine. If you get any coats that don't fit, donate to local dog rescues or shelters. In rural pounds the dogs are often kept OUTSIDE all winter! Hope this helps a fellow giant dog lover!
