Dog eats chicken poop! Yuck!

Hi, has anyone had the problem of a dog eating chicken poop? Mine does and I wonder if it is causing him to be sick? He hasn't had diarrhea or vomiting and seems to be healthy otherwise. But lately I've noticed he has been eating grass quite a bit and sometimes I hear his stomach going crazy growling. If the chickens had some sort of parasitic worm, could he catch it from them? My pullets are 3.5 months old and have never been wormed.

Dogs are disgusting creatures in ways, and thats one of them. I dont think it hurts them to any great degree, although there is the threat of parasites I suppose.

My dogs go crazy for the poop too. obsessed. I didn't think about the parasites. yuck. Just thought maybe too much of something could cause problems. I plan to call vet or research further.

My dog loves chicken poop also. Long as your dogs stool is normal and not diarrhea than he is ok. If he does have diarrhea than its probably coccidia which if you bring your dog to the vet they can give you a deworming pill to get rid of it. As for roundworms and tape worms if your dog is on heartworm pills most of them cover the other two.

Ugh, mine do too. It doesnt make them sick, and they think the stuff is delicious... EWW... so I just dont worry about it. Its not like I could stop them anyway. lol

Of course, no more kisses to my dogs though!

This is the BEST post I have read, I actually laughed out loud because my dog does the same thing. It was just funny how everyone described it. My dog eats the chicken feed also, cant understand what he would find so appealing about it.
