BEST INVESTMENT EVER!!!! We had a very tough time keeping our Beagle in the yard.....kept running off after anything that moved. We lost her way too many times, bought the Petsafe wire system and worked great. However my Beagle, Bailey, would take the jolt to get over the wire to be free, or she learned that if she paced the boundry line long enough, she would wear the batteries down so that she could get over. We ended up going back to Lowes and getting the "stubborn dog" collar that takes a 9 volt battery (I know, it sounds cruel) but it works so good!!!!!!!! The only thing I found that was better with the wire system than the wireless was when we put in our veggie garden...we were able to add onto the wire system to keep her out of the garden, but she was still able to go all the way around it....if we had the wireless system, you could change the boundary but would change the boundary around your entire house instead of just one area.
I just need enough for two sides of our one acre, so it would be about a half an acre.
