It's good that Chicken is the first ingredient. Not too thrilled about the rice, oats, etc...

The brewer's rice, beet pulp and corn gluten are all just fillers. Low quality fillers are a great way to make sure your dog poops all the time.

It could be a lot worse, but you could also do much better.

You are going to have to call around. Also price the BG, Innova, Taste of the Wild, etc...

In my area, Taste of the Wild is the better bargain.

If the dog food companies really cared about making sure your dog got the absolute best food possible, about 50 percent of those ingredients wouldn't be in there.

I have that problem with cat food.

No kidding. Wish I could get the cats to eat raw, but I had them for years before I knew better. I had to compromise by getting them high protein dry and no filler wet for my ancient kitty (Cookie will be 20 in September)​

First off I will admit I am not all sold on the raw diet thing . . . Yes, wolves and such eat raw in the wild but there are grains in the dog food b/c wolves eat animals that eat grains and such and therefore it is in their diet indirectly. Personally I don't think the cost/time/risks of a raw diet are worth it, BUT that is me.

I will also say that foods like Science Diet (whether I like it or not) do exist for a reason. It is a way to get people to feed their dogs NOT junk food, like Ol Roy, other store brands (I don't much like beneful either) It isn't a GREAT food but it isn't ol roy by any means either. Heck, I would be happy if some of our clients would feed their dogs stuff besides table scraps and milkbones . . . . . but you do what you can and that usually means baby steps

Honestly, As long as you feed your dog a good, balanced diet I don't really care WHAT you feed your dog. Just feed them something that isn't cardboard . . . .
