I feed my 5 (plus a foster pup here and there) a pretty decent grain free kibble and meat scraps at least once a week. I will also add flax seeds, chia seeds, coconut oil, and veggies a few nights a week.

Highly recommend watering down kibble!! Way healthier and keeps enough fluids in their systems.

Tried that but neither of the dogs I owned nor the neighbor dogs that I feed will eat kibble if it's wet. They will let it sit until it spoils, they just won't eat it that way

My previous dog Ranger and current dog Saphira are pretty good at self regulating. If I mix in wet food, sure they'll scraft it for a few days but after that it sits and goes bad. What works best for me is to just free feed dry food and only give anything like that as an occasional treat. That way it can stay out until she's ready to eat. Ranger went through maybe a bit under 3 cups a day while Saphira goes through a bit over 2? A reasonable amount given their respective sizes

Ahhh okay that makes sense!!!! I used to free feed him but he got chunky lol so now he’s still kind of free fed? In that he can eat it when he chooses to. But he does have meal times now. Rough meal times. He gets a cup in the morning and a cup in the evening. He eats it all dry or with toppers LOL

Brew won’t eat it that way either. He HATES soggy food LOL besides, he drinks plenty of water. He goes through almost an entire bowl a day LOL definitely over half. And it’s a large bowl too.

I feed kibble, but add in things to their diet (yogurt, fruits, veggies, beef liver, duck feet etc) As well as supplements like kelp, mushroom powder(for dogs) Urinary support(for Denver recommended by our vet its just cranberries and blueberries in a powder). I also focus on single ingredient treats. Id like to add some sort of fish oil again but Tucker is very sensitive to fish of any kind. I feed the best kibble i can find locally though its not really what i want to be feeding, Eventually i do plan on switching to half raw half kibble when i can fully afford it.
Our local butcher has a really good price on beef liver so thats where i get that.

That sounds great! I’ve heard even a little bit of non processed foods can have a huge effect on their health. I wanna start adding more stuff to his food like beef liver, fish oil, etc.

I'd like to make our own dog food one day. Right now that is just not do able with everything else I have on my plate!
