Dog Found a Baby Piglet

Why is feeding out of your hand bad? Genuinely curious.
Because the grown hog will try to eat out of your hand and accidentally bite you. I had a sweet as pie boar who was hand raised. The owner taught him to sit and then take a treat from her hand when he was little. The 300+ lb boar would jump up whenever you had feed. I'd have to feed over the fence. But he'd flop for belly rubs when you scratched him.

Oh, that makes sense. Forgot how big pigs can get!

Not to be Debbie Downer, but pretty sure it's illegal for you to keep it.

Thank you. I'm pretty sure he isn't a pure wild hog, which are what require permits. He is most likely the more common escapees from homesteader families that are mixed, almost positive, but I will call ag this morning to find out what my responsibilities are. There is a snow ball's chance in hell I will hand him over to anyone however so if I need a permit, I'll apply. I'm familiar with the permitting and it isn't a difficult thing at all.

I just called my agricultural extension agent and he told me I "can keep him... can make a pet out of him.. can eat him...can do anything" I wanted to do with him. The only thing I can't do is transport him without a feral swine license.
