Poor baby! Glad she's all fixed up. Sounds as if she's sucking up a ton of sympathy with that sad little face . She's adorable BTW.

Is there some way that you could pad the end of the cattle panel so that it doesn't cause harm again? I'm thinking that some of that black Styrofoam that they use to insulate pipes might work, attached with zip ties.

Yes she is garnering lots of attention. We are thinking of the pipe insulation as a solution. At least it would be a buffer. I'm sure the chance of this happening again is very slim, but I wouldn't ever want it to occur again.

Changed her attire to a sweatshirt to provide more protection from her scratching her side. She tries to bite at it too. I'm not sure she likes the clothing, but it will be better than her having an open wound.

She is in pain and we put the T-shirt on her to keep her from biting at the incision.View attachment 1222133

She's a labradoodle. Her sister is a goldendoodle. The vet suggested we get a doggy sweater. But, the weather was terrible yesterday and that would mean an hour trip to do so. So, I came up with the t-shirt and now using the old sweatshirt.

Oh my goodness, she looks like a honey colored version of our sweet girl Bunny.We lost her to a stroke last December. Bunny suffered a similar accident only our cattle dog managed to push her into a cattle panel with a sharp edge to it and she had a 'degloving' wound to her right front leg. She set down on our front porch and all the skin around her leg was hanging around her ankle like a sock exposing muscle underneath. It was a ghastly wound but she stitched up and healed up perfectly. I imagine your girl will also.

Please give that sweet baby a hug and a cookie from microchick in memory of Funny Bunny.

Oh my. That sounds very painful. Who would have ever thought something like this could happen? I've got a couple of pool noodles downstairs, I think I can cover the two corners that need covered and then pray nothing like this happens again.

Thank you. We wound up taking a grinder to all the cattle panels with rough edges. It's amazing what they can find to damage themselves on.

Our Funny Bunny was the same dolor as your other dog, salt and pepper but with straight hair like your golden girl. Her momma was a standard schnauzer and her dad was well, who knows. She had a brother that looked like a lab so maybe she was a schnab? She was a great dog. Smart as a whip and never knew a stranger. She was always happy, always wagging her tail until she wagged her whole body. And she had an obsessive love of dog cookies.

I'm glad you were able to get to vet care promptly. Did they give you pain medicine for her I hope? I love the little sweat shirts.BTW. Very stylish.

The little guy is a mini schnauzer mix.
Gracie is a people person too. She wanted to greet everyone at the vet's - not paying attention to her gaping wound.
They gave her an anti-inflammatory which is supposed to help with pain too. She is doing better than yesterday. In fact, I took her out to potty and she wanted to romp in the snow. I was like calm down, you've got a few days before you're going to be playing in the snow.

She was doing well until last night she jumped up onto the couch to be on my lap (almost 100 lbs lap dog) and pulled some stitches. We will be calling the vet this morning.
