Both times before they put her completely under.
I have read a lot about bandaging it and keeping it clean and moist. I am afraid that if I leave it open she will lick it or the other dogs will or bump into it again. The bandage isn't on tight so it can still heal. I don't know.![]()
What you are doing is OK. Don't worry about it. Keeping her from licking it is a good idea. I can't imagine that there would be any problem, especially since you are putting an antibiotic on it and keeping it clean. I have had very good luck with neosporin but there is nothing wrong with what you are using. Just for the record, I have seen people put a tee shirt on the dog to keep it from licking a wound. I have never had an occasion to try this. I just thought I would throw that out there. In any event, your dog should be all healed up very shortly. Relax. If it is gaping and you want to close it, you can use super glue. Just apply it and hold the wound firmly together with your fingers for a minute or so. No, I am not kidding. This trick was told to me by a man who had been a medic in the Viet (sp) Nam War. He said they used a lot of super glue out in the field. I have used super glue to stitch up teats on dairy goats. Worked better than anything else.
