Dog kennel run?

I scored 15 panels on craigslist last week for $50. 10 were 6x6x12, 2 were 5x8 and some that are 6x10. It was a super buy

One very positive thing about them is they are portable and easy to move to another spot if you so desire. I sure paid more tha $28. for mine !

I have 2 myself that i use for runs, one 6ft wide by 12 ft long for the new serama run in the summer and one 10 ft wide by 15 ft long for the other bantams, chicken wire over the top to keep them in but so far no chicken wire or anything at the bottom yet but thinking about bricks or something too many tree roots to bury chicken wire in the ground. They are locked in the coop at night and usually free range during the day if someone is around to keep an eye on them. It has worked great for 2 years but the best part was both kennels were free

and the big one had a little doggy door on the one end which matched up to the pop door on the coop.

I attached two 10x10x6 dog kennels for my 4 ducks. They also have a kiddie pool and two dog houses. If I could find more kennels for a reasonable price I would buy them up for my chickens.

Ive sent him an email, so lets hope I can get it.

I plan on building an 8x8 coop behind it and attach it somehow. I plan on having 15 or so hens and want to have at least a 200 sq ft run for them to play in. So I thought this would be the easiest way to go about it. I could set this up for now. When I see someone selling some extras, I'll buy 'em, and just add them on as I go. I plan on using brick or rocks around the bottom and then wrap hardwire cloth around the bottom half as well. We have hard rocky(& I mean rocky!) soil around here. So it would be too hard to try and bury the wire. I dont want to use cement, cause if at a later time I want to move it I'll be able to.

I have a 40 x20 dog pen run and it works great. I had a coyote problem when i let them free range but no problems now. i covered the top with fruit tree netting and it keeps everything out. I did have a loose piece of neeting that i didn't secure enough at first and a hawk got into the pen but he couldn't get out. he got so wore out that when he would land my roos were attacking him!!

I love mine there are easy to move or add more to if needed. You do need the smaller wire on the bottom though. You can also get a lot of money wrapped up in them if you are not careful but I buy all of mine used, never new so I save some there. They seem to last a lot longer then chicken wire fencing ever does so that makes any more they might cost okay with me. I do not have to go along fixing fence as often when oh I don't know a peacock desides to fly right through the chicken wire.

Theres no need to bury the wire. Take a piece 18-24 inches and attach it to the bottom of the pen, and just let it lay flat on the ground. Run it past each corner so they overlap. Cover it with a little dirt, and soon grass will grow over it.

Animals will try to dig right next to the fence, They arent smart enough to start a couple of feet away
