Dog or Coyote?

This morning at dawn my 2 roasters were attacked. Not a whole lot of feathers but enough. One rooster is completely gone the other is in the corner of my fenced in area without his head. The only evidence is the fence line. Would a dog or Coyote only take the head off? My husband says it was a dog because coyote wouldn't dig they would jump the fence. We have had issues with them before so I think it's a coyote but they usually take the body. So I'm stumpped. Also, does anyone know how my hens will react? I now have no roasters for them to walk around with or be protected. Will this be an issue?

Sure it wasn't a raccoon? They dig, and will steal a whole bird or just the head...or possibly both, maybe a coyote or dog dug in and the raccoon followed...

Sorry.....find it funny that your auto correct changed 'rooster' to 'roaster' a couple of times. :)

The space dug under your fence does not appear to be big enough for a dog. Can you see any fur caught on the chain link? I'm surprised you haven't had anything dig under before now. You really need to bury fence underground.
