dog parks?

I love our dog park. I take 3 of our dogs, the akita is too dog aggressive so she stays at home. I agree with walking around the perimeter. There are people who go and just sit, not watching their dogs. I always go away from the sitting area, and my dogs follow me.

I also go at times when there isnt' as many people. I find around here in the middle afternoon, around 2. I find it really tires out my dogs, which is why I go. I throw balls and just love watching them run!

Go at different times and don't worry about 1 jerk.

I'm a vet tech, and unfortunately, dog parks help keep us in business (but then so do irresponsible owners). Personally, I don't take mine to them--too risky as I don't trust other people's dogs or people's ability to control their dogs.

They're opening a new dog park here, after several years of putting it on the docket to materialize! I know that around here, there are some people that are most against it. I believe its the ones that have nothing better to do, but complain.

Personally, I think its a good idea. Like was stated though, the owners need to be in control of their own dogs, and keep a close eye on them.

The reason we have dog parks is owners in our city feel just about everywere is off leash so to lull thedog owning crowds our city( mayor) has now added a new dog park. I don't like off leash dogs and they truely scare me with the kids playing at the park, mainly because even poorly trained dogs get released and o few have tried to eat my kids. I really need to work on Buddies barking, he seems afraid of strange people and dogs,I figure the park is a good way to socialize him. If he were a small dog I wouldn't worry so much.( he didn't bark at the dog park;)

Dog parks are great its the dumb owners that ruin them
I used to go to the dog park all the time without a dog just for a walk cause its a beautiful spot and was close to my work.
but you always get one or two owners that are totaly clueless and just irresponsible.
when i did take my dog I kept him on leash unless we were in an area that had NO dogs running around cause i dont trust other peoples dogs.
I have seen people with extremely hyper large dogs just let them run everywhere and jump on people and jump all over other dogs which IS NOT OK!!!
I had my knee dislocated cause someones hyper large dog tried to run between my legs not once but three times so while I am choking back crying from the pain cause I am with my client (autistic ladie that I watch) and trying to keep standing the mrs. owning the dumb dog just stands and watches while her dog attempts again to jump all over me and go between my legs . she only did something when I cursed at her good and proper.
I have also had other dogs try to be aggresive with my dog. If you have to warn people about your dog maybe you shouldnt have them in the park roaming freely.
So like I said its not the parks they are great its not the dogs they are great also its DUMB PEOPLE!!!

Unfortunalty, there's too many dumb owners......

None of my dogs lives are worth other peoples stupiity!

My pet peeve is the big dog owners who don't stay out of the small dog area. That and just about any lab owner. I don't know why, but every lab I run into at the dog park is agressive and disobedient, and thier owners have not a clue.

I don't like dog parks. My big dog is not pet friendly. He is not dog friendly. He kills and eats animals smaller than him. He would be a liability to anything less than 150lbs of body weight on 4 legs.

That's why I love my beastly mutt. He thinks he's a people. Then again I have no neighbors to speak of, no roaming dogs for the most part, and the only time my dog is set loose is when he's given the command arngrim and that is never done lightly. But my dog is a working pooch, and the niceties of a dog park would be lost on him.. Although I have been considering getting him a larger Kevlar vest as his neck is still getting larger in diameter

see, I told you he was a viscous and angry attack mutt!
