dog problem..need help..Warning:somewhat graphic content and questions

Just trap it, take it several counties over, and leave it at a rescue or shelter that has a night deposit. Don't give them your name or address; just say you trapped it for someone whose property it was on.

I totally agree. I am sorry the dog has bad owners, but any child comes first. end of discussion.

I completely agree with this. My sister was mauled by a dog when she was a little girl. Please, please, please deal with this promptly and professionally.
I wouldn't even recommend reading this thread to see what we have to say before contacting the police.

Call authorities or SSS now...do not wait.

My 6 year old granddaughter was attacked by a 35 lb. border collie 2 months ago. I will not post her picture here, but believe me when I say it was horrible. She almost lost her left eye, the right side of her face was slashed to the bone, her throat was ripped open...doctor said just a hair to the left & the juglar would have been ripped & she would have bled to death immediately....2 of her front teeth were shoved up under her nose... 4 days in the hospital...2 surgeries so far...many more to come.

This was a "friendly" dog that belonged to a dear friend ....we've played fetch with a hundred times....there was never a warning growl, just the attack out of the blue...just imagine what an aggressive larger dog could do!

I am an animal lover & work with animals every day. This situation has not changed that. I am only pointing out what could possibly happen especially since the one dog is giving you a warning sign. Protect your child ASAP!! This is a devastating thing just waiting to happen.

Ok, this is really simple. You call the law. Any dog that shows aggression while you are on your property that dog needs to be taken care of. No question about it. That is a dangerous animal period. Nothing more needs to be said. Make it simple....... since you have done nothing yet at least get the dog on film.... ok, film isn't used anymore so video the dog, take a picture, carry a paintball gun, set a trap....... Hell, do all of it. Their would be NO WAY that dog would be allowed around my house.

Make it simple...... It's a DOG. An aggressive DOG. Forget about the drama of the owner you have rights and your right is to be able to walk out of your house and know everything is fine. NOT look over your shoulder to make sure a dangerous dog is lurking near by. Just wrong. I would have no problem talking to the owner. He sounds like a creep anyway. Get the law over to his house and tell him "YES..... I saw this dog kill my chickens and it was aggressive towards me. " If they ask why didn't you do anything before just explain you didn't want any problems but now it's gone to far. I'm sure your neighbors will back you up.

I hope you've talked to animal control or whomever enforces the at-large laws in your area. You've already tried talking to the guy and he seems like he's one of these stupid jerks who thinks that they're dogs are harmless or not bothering anyone. Guys like him are why I am sometimes scared to go for a walk in rural or rural residential areas.

You have the photographic evidence, go down to animal control or the sheriff and demand something be done about the dogs. Explain about the former lawsuit because of them and if need be, file a small claims suit yourself and request the dogs being euthanized and be done with it. Ask the sheriif the laws regarding shooting them on your property and if you can, if they come onto your property, shoot them.

You know I read these threads and I think we are missing the simplest ansewer to this and many other problems like this is to fence in the yard I do not mean thousands of dollars of fence but I mean some type of hot wire fence... You can put in a simple T post and smooth wire fence and you can get the plastic wire tightners so it looks good personally if i have 6 acres Im going to buy a high tensile fence 6 inch posts I get black locust around here 4 bucks delivered I get them driven into the ground or get a post hole digger and cement em in you can place the wood posts 20 - 40 feet apart and get some poly battons or make wood ones plenty of online help if you place the wires at 6/12/18/28/38/48 inches off ground and electrify all the wires one it will keep ANY predator from a bear to a bobcat out dogs will be no issue and it looks good it will last 50 plus years and a 4000 foot roll of wire is 99 bucks plenty of online help on how to do this... Seems this is really the best option as it puts YOU in control... You can shoot all the dogs and trap all the coons you want if you dont have a good electric fence the next predator will take its place... If ANYONE is going to seriously get into livestock then a good electric fence is A MUST and High tensile is as nice and cheap as it gets... If you dont want electric or wood posts get T posts and go barbed wire... I find high tensile easier to work and nicer to look at and almost indestructable...

Electric fence is a good idea. Barbed wire I'm against. That is the utmost torture for any animal, to cruel for my taste. Still, an aggressive dog does not need to be roaming around the neighborhood. A child will be hurt next. Not good. I like the paint ball gun idea as well. That would definitely send a message to the idiot neighbor.
