dog problem..need help..Warning:somewhat graphic content and questions

Well, you already know that these neighbors are irresponsible with a capital I! They have been in trouble already with your other neighbor, and they are STILL letting those dogs loose. Inconsiderate, RUDE people!

Call the authorities and make sure a complaint is filed, and TAKE THOSE BUMS TO COURT! If you use the "SSS" technique, that'll be too easy for them, and others are right, they'll just get another dog or two.

Make things inconvenient and expensive for them. They'll have to pay court costs and fines, and restitution to you as well for the chickens their dogs killed.

Whatever you decide, good luck! I talk the talk, but I always get very nervous

about confrontations.......

Taking the law into your own hands can lead to problems. I'd suggest calling whatever passes for law enforcement, showing them your game cam pics and press charges. Since this is at least the second offense for these dogs the judge may give a confine or destroy order. Good luck.

Hit them where it hurts...In their pocketbook. EVERY. SINGLE. TIME you see these dogs, catch them if you can and call Animal Control or the State Trooper even if you can't. Yes, they can pick them up at the shelter, but there is a fee and sometimes a fine in addition.

Get pics of any damages and sue them. Don't you think after they've been sued by more than one neighbor and lost that they are going to start getting it? I figure they just haven't lost enough money yet. Or they think it's over and haven't realized that it's a continued money drain. They've let them roam for how long, and you haven't sued them yet. Yeah, they figure you're not going to.

Also, it's not really right that you've talked to one immediate neighbor, who also has a beef with them (rightfully so, of course), but you haven't talked to them, nor have you called the authorities. IMO, you don't get to just skip over the legal and ethical methods and go straight to SSS.

Press charges. If you have no luck, then you'll feel better and know you did the best you could if you have to SSS.

As a general remark: You cannot generalize. It will depend on the State you live in, wether troopers would repsond, yes or no.
In Texas, for example, Police department will handle city limits, Sheriffs office will handle the county, and Troopers will work traffic, but nothing else. They do not have more autority here and will not handle cases like this one. But if you call your local law enfocement, dispatch will send the appropriate entity. None of them will be able to stake out at your property though, but they might be able to advise. I agree with the sentiment that it would be adviseable to first warn the dogs owners, but the Sheriffs Office would most likely do that for you. Then you can take it from there.

This gets my vote. This will also hit them in the pocketbook through their homeowners insurance and may greatly decrease the chance of them replacing their dogs.

It is a shame the dogs have to suffer due to their stupid owners!!!
Of course I am partial to chows. I have a full bred one myself but he is the mother hen to all animals. He loves the chicks, the ferrets, the cats and helps keep an eye on the bulldog so I must have a very odd chow!

But I would call whatever authorities in your area to have them pick up the dogs. Hopefully they will not allow them to have them back if you show them the tape you have and if the dogs can be worked with and rehomed, it will be a win/win for you and the dogs. It's obvious these owners don't give a crap about them so I am sure they won't go pay the fees to pick them up. Maybe a rescue could help in this situation???

I wouldn't wait for the dogs to come back again especially if you have a young daughter. I would start calling now before something more severe happens to you or your family or someones elses. You have the evidence on tape.

I'm echoing what a number of others have already said....

C A L L T H E P O L I C E ! ! ! ! !

Obviously these people know they have dangerous dogs and they don't care. Call the police, provide them with your photo evidence, emphasize that the dog(s) threatened you on your own property, and let law enforcement handle it. I would also make sure I documented every kill and take them to small claims court. At some point the authorities will step in and take away their dogs.

Mine have been on lockdown for three weeks now. Same issue. Killed 5 of my hens that had just started laying. Reasoning with the owner of the dog was impossible. I informed the owner that I would indeed shoot his dog if he came on my property again. I, like you, am not familiar with my .22 as I would like to be and will be setting up my target and practicing. Like the other said, always remember what is behind your shot, as the bullet can travel for miles. When will people learn to be responsible for their dogs? Dogs will get out, but once allowed to roam free they are a menace and can be deadly. A lady down the road from me was attacked by three dogs that were out roaming. She no longer has a left breast and is lucky to be alive. I say follow the advise regarding documentation and get yer gun ready.
