Hi all,
I'm not sure when this happened, I haven't seen limping or acting odd or even blood.
We went for a hike yesterday, it could have happened then but he didn't show any signs of pain, he didn't have it Sunday night.

I don't think it bothers him unless he's trying to lay down or it brushes against something, I imagine it's sensitive.

Unfortunately, the vets are closed and they likely wouldn't have a close appointment anyway.
There's an emergency vet up north though.

It doesn't look that bad but I'm trying to figure out how to go forward , should I wrap it? Will the outer pad fall off or reheal?
Thanks!

I would apply iodine to it once or twice a day, keep it clean and monitor it closely. As long as it doesn't get infected it should heal fine. Obviously get him to a vet if it does get infected but I think he'll be fine. I do think there's a fair chance it could fall off but in what manner remains to be seen. Either way it shouldn't negatively impact him once it heals

Thanks, it's not bleeding and looks healthy. Do you think I should wrap it so it doesn't catch on anything and tear? I'm not sure how long the doofus would tolerate it but he might.

If he will allow you to and it will stay on, then it would make him more comfortable as it'll protect it from bumps. If he won't allow it or keeps taking it off I wouldn't worry about it. Obviously it is better if it is wrapped but it's not the end of the world if you can't, it should heal fine either way, main thing is to keep it clean so it doesn't get infected

Also, not saying it's likely to be an issue with a wound this small but it's a good idea to have a properly fitted muzzle on hand for emergencies. An injury can make even a gentle dog nip or bite. It's better to be safe than sorry in such situations

I don't have one, unfortunately, I'm still new to dogs. I can wraps cats and chickens in towels, muzzles aren't needed for them.😅
Thanks for the help, I appreciate it.
