Dog run as coop?

Hey, my theory is "whatever works" so I certainly won't laugh. I'm trying to spend as little money as possible while still making this work and be safe. If I can salvage materials from things I already have, I certainly will. It's storming like crazy outside right now or I'd be out measuring that dog run, but it looks to be only a 5'x10'. Is that still big enough for a few guineas?

Thank you for all of those photos and information. It is definitely helpful. Far better than my idea of using zip ties. Lol

Yep.... six by six would be large enough for about nine.... Though guineas do a lot of running you wont be keeping them in prison for ever.... LOL.

I don't remember ours ever going in a coop and they nested wherever . Until they get the get to think it's home you need to keep them up .They are bad about getting in the road though . Yes make coops and pens out of what you have . I did buy four 10x10 kennels from tractor supply. Just hatched to many to quick:oops:

Okay, I think I have everything I need now and we're about to go put it all together. I found someone with older keets 6-8 weeks, and they're not far away. They only have five available so I'm taking all five. I know that's not ideal, but for the moment it's all I can do. Every time I've found someone with guineas they're either hours away from me, or they won't get back to me.

Anyway, I can't wait until they get here and hopefully having them will help coax this male (I named him Petrie or Pete) into the pen. It looks like something got after him the night before last and I've been worried ever since.

He looked disheveled before, but that missing patch on his wing is new. There was a small pile of feathers by the old car where he would sleep every night, and he hasn't slept there since.

He definitely tangoed with some critter, ouch! I would keep those new keets locked up for several weeks/months and keep them happy, otherwise they may just wander off with ol' Pete. If you can get all of them in there together for a few weeks, I think that'd be ideal. Good luck!

Thank you! Everyone is together in the run and have been since Monday. They're all getting along great and Pete is happy for the company! Hopefully he learns from them instead of the other way around. He's FAR more nervous and anxious than they are.
Thank you for all your help!
