Dog Shares Her Bone With the Hens!

It's been cold and dry. Yesterday the chickens were out and Samantha, our wonderful dog, actually shared her ham bone with the hens. I wouldn't have believed it if I hadn't seen it! Talk about patient!!!

Australian Shepherd? Mixed with something of the like? She is beautiful! So mellow! My dog loves the chickens but is WAY too self-centered to share a treat! LOL

On my BYC page I think I have pics of my Belgian Malinois Vixey sharing a deer bone with her favorite chicken, Hawk. That day was kind of her graduation exercise - I didn't think she would ever be chicken safe. But that darn little production red just won her over. Now they eagerly initiate mutual play - Hawk will approach Vixey and fluff her neck out, then take a fighting stance head down. Vixey sees a doggy play bow and proceeds to play fight. Very dramatic and kinda scary until you see no contact is occurring except from Hawk pecking and flogging the dog. She is even gentler than when she plays with our cat.
