Beat him more, it may not keep him off the couch, but it will make you feel better, works for keeping the kids out of the frig too.

I saw this thing once for people keeping dogs out of the kitchen where they string some string across the doorway like a inch high and teach the dog not to pass it and after they learn you take it down and they stay out of the kitchen. Dunno if it would work on the couch though?? We used it on my friend's neighbor's dogs and it worked VERY well.

If you cover your cat with tin foil will jake think it is leftovers from dinner at a fancy resturant? Why do they call it doggy bag, if its wrapped in tin foil??

get a coffe can(metal one, not sissy plastic) and 1/2 fill with pennys, so when you shake it it makes the loud sharp noise (its a higher pitch so dogs hate it) and shake it, at him when he gets on there

You're not supposed to use their name when you correct them.

Here's what Jake hears:

"NO (stop doing what you are doing) JAKE (aww PC loves me, I love it when he says my name, even if he does sound mad)"

"NO (stop doing what you are doing) COUCH (huh?) "

"NO (stop something or other) COUCH (wha?) JAKE (yep, definitely wants me to sit on that big dog bed after he's gone, ok I'll wait, because I know he loves me)"

The tin foil thing is right- It really works!
If you lay a long sheet of tinfoil along the couch cushions the dog won't go on it. Something about the way their eyes see I think...they think it's water or something?

Anyway I can't remember why it works but it DOES WORK!
We just put the tinfoil on the couch when we're gone. When we're home the dog knows better than to get up. When we are home we just stick it under the couch. Easy as pie.

Course tinfoil won't keep the cats off. In fact I think the cats like the tinfoil because it reflects their body heat and keeps them warm. So much for keeping hair off the couch...
