Ok im new and stumbled across this thread. I just put a temp coop on the roof where we keep our 1 yr old german mix pup. We have a turtle, rabbit, 7 chickens, 2 cats and assorted other birds. When I go up I let pup off leash and ge is very curious about them, my daughter wants to be a vet assist and train dogs on side but we need to find a larger property first. First what is harm in them eating the poop and two I saw a thread on dogs and chickens but always looking on more experienced peoples opinions on how to integrate animals. Here dogs are often killed or dropped off somewhere after they killed chickens. Trying to educate people by example im looking for ways to teach humane ways to problems. My SIL just got rid of their dog who was housed in a water barrel tank, given spoiled food and pretty much caged in dark cause he killed her chickens. The idea that he was being starved and abused doesnt cross their minds yet. We have a long way to go and animal rights are long ways off but I hope small steps can happen. Suggestions welcome. Daughter will need some coaxing but I think its better to be prepared.
