Dogs eating chicken "packages." Don't want to know the answer to this but I need to know.

Where we live there have been very few heartworm cases (like 1 or 2 in the last 10 yrs) so we don't do heart worn preventative. But my dogs do get brewers yeast and garlic daily yr round, this keeps the fleas, ticks, bugs off them so I am not really worried about the heart worm anyway. My dogs eat cow/horse/rabbit/chicken and I am sure any other variety of poop they can find. My dogs get their fecal tests yearly and I have yet to have any come back positive for worms. I do just as a preventative de-worm the dogs with a 3 day Panacur Treatment once a yr and the chicken get wormed once a yr as well. The cows are wormed a couple times a yr and the horses are wormed depending on what their fecal egg count is and the recomended de-worming program is for each horse (ie: some are only done twice a yr while some as much as 4 times a yr) For all you horse owners this is something new my vet started doing last yr and it measures the amount of worms shed in the fecal and then they are wormed accordingly. This is completely different then a traditional worming rotation since some types of worms over the yrs have gotten a resistance to certian types of wormer. And for once I actually saved some money this year!
Anyway, I think if you occassionally worm your chickies and any other livestock and the dogs and cats then you shouldn't have a problem. I do agree with the majority of the group here, don't let Fido lick your face lol
