So long as I keep mine out of the coop I haven't had too many problems with them. The youngest pup that is a shiba still finds putting chickens in her mouth too tempting but part of it is she's still at the stage where everything goes in her mouth. The husky x shepherd is my biggest problem but generally just spooks them and then gives up when the chickens go into the bushes or back in the coop. The border collie likes to run after them but stops when the chickens stop moving and doesn't touch them. My akita completely ignores the chickens while they are out of the coop.
Now place any of those dogs in the coop with chickens and it's a different story. The akita loves to pen down any chicken that walks near her and will do it repeatedly. They've yet to be harmed but I was yelling at her for it. The border collie actually starts to get snappy. The shiba goes into kill mode and grabs at everything. The husky x shepherd has actually killed a few chickens in the coop (not while I was in charge of him) and carried another one off which he released unharmed when we saw him. I got tired of yelling or zapping all of them into behaving so all dogs were just plain banned from the coop with few exceptions. Out in the yard they are all completely manageable around the chickens but in the coop chickens are too close and tempting.
