I have a pomeranian x Papillon named Benji hes 5 and a half

And a Shih tzu named Scooby who is not yet 2

Our dogs have the back yard while our chickens free range in the front
Though Benji is good with the chickens and I would trust him 100% with them (all he does is wanna eat their poop and roll in it :sick)

Scooby on the other hand is still a naughty puppy and just wants to terrorise the chickens, I don't think he would harm them but he barks at them and if they run he would chase them
So we are currently working with him and the chickens

Can anyone answer this too? Our front yard is our garden, hardly any space to run and it has a very short fence. Our backyard is larger and has a 6ft fence, so that's where a dog would run around. Our chickens live in our backyard though and they free range and poop everywhere (the poop seems to disapear the next day, whether it disolves into the ground or an animal eats it). Are there any dangerous disieses that can be transmitted from chickens to dogs?

I can finally say I have a dog! I adopted her from a local shelter about two months ago. Started classes and adopted a dog on the same day! It was quite a few weeks! She's been absolutely amazing though, and pretty much fully trained. I've just worked on some obedience with her but I couldn't ask for a better dog! She's become very attached to me already.

She's a good old brown mixed breed dog, probably about two years old. I named her Sienna. Looks like she had a litter of puppies at some point in the past and was picked up by a stray. We think she's definitely got beagle and Labrador in her. She points and has webbed feet!

Right now I'm feeding her Science Diet because I get it discounted through the vet school. Since I am a poor vet student, any savings helps! She seems to like it and they've done some changes to their ingredients so I'm ok with it. Someday I'd love to move her to a better food but for now she'll eat like I do! Lol!

What a cutie!!!

Alrighty, so i have 3 dogs 2 buns and 12 chickens. They all get a long great, except my barred rocks like to beat up one of my dogs. XD I would get a puppy, so they can be around them and not really know that they will be stronger and be docile with your animals. Also, make sure your the leader of the house. This seems to make the dog calm down. I have a big mix breed (115lbs) who thought he was top dog when he arrived and tried to get at the chickens. We straightend him out real fast and now he doesnt go after them when theyre out.

I hope my personal experiences could be spme help. Submissive dogs (probably) wont hurt your babies!
I've had too males that are/were submissive. Never hurt my hens.

I LOVE DOGS!! They are my favorite animal!!

(Yes I love them more than chickens!) I have one standard poodle named Simba. He is the best dog you could want!! He is cuddly, protective, affectionate, funny and the best companion!! I will be heart broken when he passes. He is 9 years old.

I LOVE MY POOCH!
