DOJ trying to federally ban all service animals except dogs.

My friend has a service dog with a photo i.d. Not only does he wear his service dog vest, but he has his official photo i.d. in the vest. If there is concern over whether people have legitimate service animals they should just be able to ask for the i.d. Anyone can make a vest for their animal, but a standard issue i.d. would be much more fool proof. I don't see how it would be discrimination to just ask to see i.d.

I've always hated the "few bad apples spoil the bunch" laws. Go after the bad apples, not the people who are following the rules.

Again the government sticking it's nose where it does not belong rather than concentrating on the real issues.

This is a load of **** but not surprising for our government.

They have those in a larger, bipedal form known as CHHA's or Certified Home Health Aides. They cost $10-20/hr. which is usually covered by insurance, and usually refrain from unseemly behavior in public.

They are not always covered, and a lot of people that have disabilities are not well insured.
It is very costly to have home health aides, some people would need someone 24/7 and then they wouldn't feel independent either!
I have even seen cases where these aides have robbed their clients blind.
There is no easy answer this this, I think that it needs to be looked over and discussed before going into effect, they need to look at the big picture.

You are right, I was trying to be funny, at the same time pointing out how expensive it is. 24 x $20/hr equals... drumroll.... $480/day! Criminy! I work in home health field and know a lot about it as well. Dog's maybe man's best friend, but there are some things a dog can't do, and some people are allergic.

(edited also to say I was sorta making fun of the CHHA's by comparing them to the monkeys, and I aplogize if anyone here was offended by that.)

It would be easier all round if the Government made it mandatory that all service animals where issued with special ID tht could be worn by the animal at all times out in public.....it would hopefully stop the "bad apples" and their abuse of the system...thus making life easier for those in need.....

Start up a web petition...? which could be sent to the Government....that is now done in the UK

I have been thinking about those HElping hands monkeys for my son should he recover sufficently since I have experience training monkeys. That macaque in the story was scary. In most settings you have to wear PPE just to handle this type of monkey. Yet this one was grabbing boots and licking them. This is not a well trained animal that belongs in public. I can not see taking a service monkey out in public, except in a very controlled environment. There is probably more danger to the monkey from the humans than visa versa.
