How do you digitally paint a picture?

@Cutiechook1---I use the most simple amateur method, an app called Paintbrush, (I think it was free when I got it) and I draw with my finger on the trackpad. There are many more sophisticated methods, tools, touchscreen technology, professional level programs, etc....
