Here
is the link to the video of the Geese first outdoor foray at our farm. They went back inside tonight without a hassle. I just walked slowly behind them, stopped when we got to the door and let them figure it out. Told them it was bed time, and they walked right in.

They did really well out there today. By the afternoon, they were walking around all over the place, and were even getting up close to the chicken fence (and the chickens). One of the Geese even laid down to take a nap right by the chickens.

As an aside... I have a feeling that they were possibly hand fed before. Today, when I went out with some treats for them, they came right up to me and as I went to drop the treat they came as close as possible and opened their mouths. I know it wasn't aggressive. I've had them hiss, honk, crowd, and everything else when I had food. But they didn't make any noise, just stood their with their mouths open, like they were waiting for me to drop the food in, or hand it to them. Similar to what a baby bird would do at feeding time. I didn't do it, because I don't want them to associate hand and beak contact. Wouldn't worry about it for myself (actually think it would be kind of cool to experience), but if others are out there and in contact with them, etc., it's not a good idea. Only mention it, as I thought it was rather interesting behavior.

She made it about two feet off the ground then crashed pretty hard (off camera) head first into the ground. She's okay, but it scared me for a second there. I had a moment of, "Hey, they CAN fly." Then... "Ummm, Nope..." Her butt was stuck up in the air! After I knew she was okay, it made me laugh pretty hard!

I think they're too bottom heavy, or something.

Poor Geese!

Poor Geese!

Awesome video they look great. I bet they enjoyed having some sunshine.

Loved the video. They crack me up how they move in a clump and then all spread their wings at the same time. Quite the collective mind

And the one really caught some air!
