Just an idea but you could maybe put a tarp on the bottom. And secure it to the sides for some depth and then just add shavings again or whatever you would want to use. It would keep the shavings from going anywhere and it would be easy cleanup.

Are you planning to keep your duck as in indoor pet or will he eventually be going outside? He is such a cutie!

I will be keeping him as an indoor pet. So I used plastic tarp with his wood shaving bedding that works nice but a real pain to clean up. I think I need a harder or stronger surface.
