I have one hen that gets picked on by all the others. She is missing all the feathers on the back of her head and half way down her neck. She stays in one corner of the yard behind the shed and will sometimes venture out, but is very fearful. She seems to be getting enough to eat and drink, but is too stressed to lay. The other 7 hens will chase her down, jump on her back and peck her head until she screams and runs away. They are on a half acre, so space is not an issue. Separating them is not an option. I am looking for suggestions of what to put on her head to make them stop or lessen their pecking. I have been told that pine tar works. Thoughts anyone?
