Dominique, Barred Rock, Cockoo Maran

I can only speak for the barred rock and the cuckoo marans.

This is my sweet BR, Oreo. She's always been such a nice girl, so I thought I'd buy another. A backyard "breeder" sold me this:

I didn't notice until I got home that she had pale legs and beak instead of yellow. I thought she was sick or anemic until I started researching and found out she was a Cuckoo Marans.

The CM will have a messier, less defined barring compared to a BR and of course the pale and pinkish legs and pale beak. The CM should give me chocolate colored eggs, whereas the BR will give me the classic light brown colored eggs. Both are very friendly, but the CM is a little more so. She'll climb my body while I'm standing upright just to roost on my shoulder. She's like Spider-Chicken!

Great information Honeybee. Thank you. I can tell the difference in the color of your CM and BR. The three breeds look so much alike in the pictures that I saw online
