The bird has hen coloration because it's not a 'pure' Dominique. That's a mixed cockerel.The barred coloration is sex-linkable. Meaning, you can sex the birds by coloration. Males have more white in their barring, yellower legs, and hatch with a larger white spot on their heads. Hens have more black in their barring, and darker legs.
On a rare occasion, this isn't true. Your bird is one of them. You have a cockerel with hen coloration.
