My new pullets were hatched in mid-March. One is a Dominique. This is the first time I have had a chicken of this breed.

The Dom carries itself very upright; has a sort of 'streamlined' appearance, and is beginning to have sort of 'flowing' tail feathers. In other words, I suspect this bird is a roo. However, there is no hint of either spurs or a crow, or of mating behavior.

I can't find any good photos of Dominique tails to know if possibly (hopefully) the hens' tails are longer than other breeds.

Anyone experienced with this breed and can let me know?

There are some great picture of Dominiques on the Dominique thread.

You have described a beautiful Dominique hen.

Their tails do get rather long, compared to some other breeds, but the hen will have only straight tail feathers.

A rooster will have the straight tail feathers with some very long flowing ones on top.

The roosters tend to be sweet and mellow, so your typical nasty rooster tendencies shouldn't apply to a Dominique rooster.
