This is my dream door. I had actually looked at your website a few times. I have been trying to save up, but it’s hard because I'm 15, not employed, nor do I get an allowance. My parents are not exactly supportive of the chickens, so they are not going to buy the door for me, besides moneys tight. Congrats on inventing such a great product.
I got my "coop" months ago. After 3 to 4 months I got tired of waiting on my dad, so when I was home from school I got out the saw/ drill and put in the roost. Got in trouble for using the power tools! The "coop" use to be a Great Dane dog house so there is a towel not a door. If I can’t use tools then how do I build a door? In the woods around my house there are opossum, fox, raccoons, snakes, birds of prey, and a VERY high possibility of bears (we live down the road from the dump). Guys I really need to get or build a door.
Umm Thinking... I don't have any close the coop stories because you know no door. I'm definitely a paranoid chicken owner though, but with good reason
So the first night my brother, and I have both been given chicks, a cat came into our garage, and pulled my chick out of the cage. I kind of adopted my brother’s chick. I was not going to let it be taken, so I put the cage in a cage.
He survived, and I bought some silkie companions.
The first night with the silkies, and Funky was the worst night of sleep I have EVER gotten! So I'm trying to sleep, and I would "hear" the chicks. I would wake up and there would be chicks running around my room (at the time my room was dirty, it was dark, and I was tired) I will swear on my life that I kept seeing chicks running around in the floor. I would get up go turn the light on no chicks. I can't count on my fingers how many times that happened during the night before I would just start going out into the garage, and do a head count.
The worst thing was whenever I was taking a nap; I would wake up at random worried I had fallen asleep while holding one of the chicks. That had really happened 1 time. My mom said that after I was sleeping for a while she walked past, and noticed there was a chick sleeping on me. We have 3 dogs, and a cat! Don't even get me started on birds of prey! I'm not crazy, but Have just reasons to be paranoid!
