Thanks for the reply. Duck (the chick in question's name, lol) was a chipmunk chick. I thought production chicks were not.Production red, pullet
She could be an EE but there isn't any way to know if she has the blue shell gene. Hatcheries sometimes sell EEs that lay brown eggs.
RIR and NH are red as chicks. The mixed ones from the production pen end up reverting to wild type markings. It could be a red broiler type, too. Hard to judge heft in pictures. But it isn't a "breed" as far as I can tell. Thanks for the reply. Duck (the chick in question's name, lol) was a chipmunk chick. I thought production chicks were not.

And for bonus fun.. this picture of one of my barred rocks. Is it too soon to tell if it is a cockerel? It certainly has larger white bars and suspicious growth on its face. Ha

Its a little too early to tell, if they are straight run then I think at least one is a cockerel. My second batch of welsummer. Can anyone tell me what sex they think they are. View attachment 1033316
That's a roosterIs my silky a boy? 5 months old.
Both are roostersView attachment 1033043 We brought home two chicks that had been incubated in my son's science class. So we knew it was a gamble if we would get roosters. One we confirmed as a rooster but now we think the second is a rooster too. (I caught it crowing this morning) Would love a second opinion. Also any ideas on breed would be nice too.
