Don't know what the abbreviations mean............

I am new to the forums & am interested in all the chickens each member has but am having trouble figuring out all the abbreviations they use. I know the regular ones like RIR, BO, NH, but there are many I can't figure out.............LOL It's like a new computer game.............LOL

If you got to the Index, in the blue bar above, the FAQs are at the top. Loads of abbreviations in there, as well as things you will want to know about posting pics, etc. Tons of chicken stuff too.

I'm also on a couple of horse boards. And, the abbreviation BO has an entirely different meaning. For those of us who board our horses, it stands for barn owner. Then, you have your BM, or barn manager. Of course, if we're talking personal hygiene, then there's an entirely different meaning.

Yeah...I thought the abbreviations were kinda confusing too...occassionally I still go "huh?"

I know now that BR is barred rock....BO is buff orphington....EE is Easter Egger...RIR is Rhode Island Red...PR is production red...SLW( i believe) is Silver Laced Wynadote

BO - Buff Orpington
NH - New Hampshire (Black, Red)
PR - Production Red
EE - Easter Egger
SLW - Silver Laced Wyandotte
DW - Delaware
Jap - Japanese (Not really an abbreviation)
JG - Jersey Giant (people don't usually use that one
OEG - Old English Game
OEGB - Old English Game Bantam
RS - Red Star
RSL - Red Sex Link (Same thing as a Red Star)
Wellie - Welsummer (Not really an abbreviation)

DH= dear hubby

and some use, DD: dear daughter, DS: dear son, etc...

to a wealth of information about poultry. Any and Every thing you ever wanted/needed to know is RIGHT HERE!!
