been a member about a year. I live in Jamaica and a hen appeared one day in my garden. She was friendly and laid nearly an egg a day so we got her a rooster from the local feed shop lady to expand the business. She hatched three eggs and then tragedy struck. A dog killed her and her chicks. Of course the rooster flew up into a tree and survived. Anyway lonely widower hung around driving us crazy crowing all night and then left our yard for one across the road. Six months later he is now back with a young hen in tow. That is the story of my back yard chicken ranch. I know nothing about breeds or anything else but enjoy the forum and learn a lot. Originally from San Francisco, retired here three years ago. Very touched that you would email me to make sure I was feeling comfortable on this forum. Old time hospitality on the Net.

I'm glad the rooster brought home a friend! Welcome from North Carolina!

Hey jamysmum, glad you got my note!!! I always wonder why peeps don't post and so I'm glad that you did!

So, you're from my neck of the woods and ended up in Jamaica? That's fantastic. I had a friend that was there for 2 years and loved the climate... it's the type of climate I think my family would LOVE!!

You ever think about adding more chickens to your flock?
