i'd asked about duct taping a cracked egg that was at day 8.

Whatever you do, don't open it before trashing it. If you do, don't look

to bump this thread ....

bury the egg in the yard (trash it) or someone heard of duct tape saving an egg?

did you happen to open one? i'm too afraid to do that as well! i had an egg that i just got rid of a couple days ago. it must've been a day 8 or so quiter. i did NOT open it! even though i knew it was dead.....i couldn't bring myself to do it. i WAS interested in what was inside though. i remember opening a day 2 egg though (maybe day 3).....cuz it had a displaced air cell. it had a ring around the dot....so i think there was development. maybe i should've kept the displaced air cell eggs ( i had 2 of them) i wonder if they would've been ok?

I had opened a few day 23 quail eggs and one day 30 duck egg yesterday ,, I too dont reccomend opening a hatching egg. the whole duck egg was putrid, black slime, and the poor coturnix had gotten freeze wrapped in the eggs when the power went out.. i learned my lesson , curiosity killed the cat you know...

Yeah iot was vile .. It smelled soooo bad I almost got sick and I can handle about any smell....

I frequently open my quitter eggs to see why they stopped. Unless the egg is obviously bad which doesn't happen too often because I candle frequently, my eggs have no smell. (I don't open bad eggs LOL). I have found some interesting things! I have had a 2 headed chick and one with missing skull. Sounds morbid, but it was very fascinating...
