Instead of killing them, you can use tender leaves in salads, they can be made in to a tonic OR you can give them to your birds. My ducks LOVE dandelions!
ok but I did spray the prickers. I don't know what they are... I mean, it's kinda got 3 leaves like you'd expect from poison ivy but I never got the itchies from them. I have raspberry bushes and thought maybe they were those and I left them alone and no berries ever produced?
and well they grow up on my fence line and I'm extending my duck coop there so I don't want them to get their lil feetsies injured when I do turn them loose over there.
other than that... not much sprayin around here.... the back yard subdivision neighbors looooooove me.
They are just jealous of my burdocks, thistles, lilacs, dandelions, and other unmentionables. te he he he.
and I have heard of dandelions in salad.... I have some chickory in my ditch and my neighbor told me that back in war time the soldiers made tea with that.... hmmmmm..... such pretty blue flowers...
There was an old man up the road that used to go around with his little bulb planter thingy and dig his up and his lil ol alzheimers wife would follow him around and watch.... last year they were both taken to a home.... oh how i'll miss old Ralph and Ruth. I'd go over there and listen to their stories all the time and he used to wood carve fish and ducks... I have one of his ducks on a lil pull cart.
I guess I'll have to do that with mine as well... the ones along the gravel drive... wonder if they'll pull up easy or not?
When we go to the state parks we always take container with us to bring home dandelions and other "weeds". We have all kinds of "weeds" that the duckies love!
