I just purchased a Healthcare plan for 4 people with 100% preventative and a large deductible for $300.00 a month. Of course we only go to the doctor when we absolutely have to except for srceenings. I paid for my first child out of pocket the second was paid for with the help of Insurance.

What Dunkopf means is that in terms of infant mortality, the US does not rate very highly in developed world. While higher than most third world countries, it is much lower than most of the developed world. I think that the US is some where around 50th worldwide. This is generally considered one of the bench marks for a good health care system.

according to the chart we are 34. On the smaller one USA is 46.

Well said Dunkomp. Incidentally, the US government has also pledged $240,000,000 to that same fund for the vaccination of infants. how well will this sit with the electorate do you think?

The Op didn't want this to become political but I think it has. What gets me is how fast these threads collect comments when there are threads like this one who NEED them more

I go into the emergency sections and also see a few others who do that (THANK YOU) to try and help whoever I can but so many times I have no idea what to tell them, but yet see SO many who are not helped at all.

Sorry, just feeling bad for those who are scared and worried about their babies and no one to help them that I get upset with this. I know how I felt when I come here years ago knowing nothing, hoping to get help, seeing all the joke threads and political threads but yet when my hen was suffering I had come here looking for advice and got none but the joke/political threads had thousands of comments.

Interestingly enough infant mortality is geographically simular to countries with high birth rates. More births=more deaths not really related to healthcare policies me thinks.

If it was not for these random ramblings threads there would be no one on here to respond to any of the "need help" threads. They bring people to the website an help keep them here. If they were not here everyone would only be on here when they needed help an no one would be on to give it. Probably half if not more of my post on here for the past 10 years are responses to help about incubators. Its the same thing repetitively. No way I would still be doing it if the fun stuff was not here.

They become redundant and they pretty much become ear banging. Most threads in this topic forum get political it is all in fun and entertainment most take it lightly, few are serious but they are easily spotted... they initiate name calling.

I am sorry that not many respond to the sick chick posts I used to but they always seem to say the same things either "oh I am sorry" or "give him Tylan" and then they die,(the thread not always the chick). I will try to help more on those posts.

I believe birth rates are higher in underdeveloped countries where correspondingly the infant mortality rate is high. People have more children because they cannot be sure their children will survive. This was also the case in 'first world' countries a hundred years ago. Improved living and working conditions and the advent of maternal/ infant welfare allowed people to reduce the size of their families, as they have confidence in the survival of their children. Absolutely directly related to healthcare.
