Decisions, decisions. Newbie here who ended up
with 9 roos (7 Standards, 2 Banties), 6 hens. I got rid
of 3 roos three weeks ago. The others had not matured yet.
The ones I sold to a guy were a little on the light side at
15 weeks, so I thought I would try and wait until 20 weeks.
We did bring the dog crate home tonite-was going to send
2 tomorrow. I'm so mad I've decided all 4 of the standards
are going. Including the Big Guy, my pet BO, whom I pick
up carry around, and hold in lap. They were running one
of the BO gals around tonite, she's been trying to stay away
by sitting on the highest roost all day, well they ran her into
the corner of the coop, lots of squaking, and a cracked upper beak
later, small amount of blood, I decided no big roos. I do not free
range, locked in coop at nite, attached run, and use a tractor.
Bernice is doing fine, called one of the Vets I work for and said
super glue would be fine. She's in the tractor until lights out.
Tomorrow will be sad for me,but my hens will be happy, and they
seem to like the alpha banty just fine.

I would be leary of the super glue. Simply due to the smell. Birds are very sensitive to strong smells and if you are putting it on her beak you would be basically putting it right under her nose.
Just my .02
Good luck and hope it all works out good fer ya.

We did it outside(lots of fresh air) She didn't mind
it a bit. I did hold a moistened q-tip over the nostril on the
side I was super gluing. She's now in the coop for the night.
I had the super glue on hand, the Dr. I work for advised
super glue or epoxy, but said epoxy can heat up.

Super glue fumes aren't that bad. Epoxy probably would not be the best idea and many types of sealants contain toxic ingredients to help prevent mold or rot. Super glue is actually used to seal up wounds on humans including around the face. My friend went to the ER with a split upper lip and they superglued it after putting a couple stitches in. Should be perfectly safe for birds. Only thing is superglue doesn't last too long if it stays damp. It will eventually dissolve if kept wet so rainy weather or the chicken dipping it's beak alot may cause it to wear off prematurely.
