Don't throw away your Halloween pumpkins!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Mine had no interest but they're just getting settled and it was carved.

Gonna go shopping for cheap chicken treats this weekend

So far their favorite is cabbage and tomatoes. They absolutely destroyed the tomato and left the skin.

Is the pumpkin still ok for chickens if temps have gotten below freezing several times while they were on the porch? Pumpkin still looks intact on outside...should I still cut it up and hand it out to the girls? Thanks in advance~

I wouldn't see why not. I still have some and plan on cutting them up and storing them in our freezer. Then giving them just a little from time to time.

My chickens ate a whole sugar pumpkin in 5 minutes (split in half). They only leave a very thin part of the outer layer. I like that they will naturally deworm your chickens.

Here are a few pictures:

They LOVE pumpkin!

A family down the road from us had a bunch of their harvested pumpkins out by the road with a "Help Yourself" sign on them, so I grabbed three.

We give our 7 girls half a pumpkin at a time, cut up into chunks to avoid fights, and it's gone within an hour or two. They go for the seeds first, then the flesh. They leave the skin.

They love them.
