I just don't understand some people. We had high cold winds come in. The pump house froze up Feb 3rd, several connections and pipes broke. Landlord got it thawed out and fixed the 3rd day. Neighbors' water hook up froze (they don't have it protected from the cold.
They have 2 mini lop ear rabbits in an outside hutch. They haven't been around for several days. No heated waterer for the rabbits. Their water is frozen. Can't get into hutch to give them water. Who knows how many days they have been without water. Animal Control won't come out, said for me to break the lock. I told the landlord, he said he will do it. He is mad and so am I.
I don't understand how some people can leave like that without asking someone to look in on them. No heated waterer that water has to be changed often, especially since it is a metal bowl.
Thanks for listening to my rant. Being in Western Washington we don't see this kind of weather often, but was warned days ahead this was coming. We were prepared.

I don't have heated waterers either, but I top mine off twice a day with hot water. Rabbits can survive on licking ice and eating snow, and they are very cold hardy. I don't know if that helps, but they should be okay for a few days. Definitely not saying it's right though. Hopefully someone gets to them to take care of them.

Thank You, I don't know much about keeping rabbits. I knew they were cold hardy, but didn't know about the water situation.

They still need daily care to check that they are okay. So there's definitely some cruelty to not checking them. I use a watering can to water through the wire. Maybe you can do that? They do need food too. I would do what I could to get them fed and watered for now.

Landlord just came over. Said he cut the lock. Checked them out. No food and frozen water. He made a temporary pen in his unheated shop, put down straw on the concrete floor. Set them up with a heated water bowl he had and found a little Timothy Hay. For now they are taken care of.
They don't care about them, only when it is convenient for them. They tried to get me to take them, this fall. Have enough animals, I know my limit.

How nice that you worry about them and got the landlord invested in this. The owners sound like someone that would skip out on paying rent as well. What a good landlord.
Can't help it, animal lover. Not fond of cats (allergic to them), but don't want to see them mistreated either. They can't really skip out on rent unless they leave the 5th wheel. They don't have a truck to pull it with...lol
Landlord is a caring person. He even asked if I needed a heat lamp for the chickens, cause he has a couple. Told him no, they don't need heat. After all they are wearing down coats. If they did I have a infrared heat panel in the coop. Got it before I knew they didn't need it. Figured that is okay, can always use it for chicks :lau
