This is a planky dumbbell thing. It's awesome because your core is supposed to rotatate and keep you balanced and whatnot and this makes your core do what it's supposed to do. I never feel like I'm getting much of a workout when I do planks, I also feel like my back tends to sag because I'm not doing anything with my core except for squeezing it. When I do a planky dumbbell thing I feel both sides of my core engaging and balancing me when I go back and forth between arms. An added bonus is that you have to use a bigger weight to keep your knuckles off the ground, so when I pull the weight up over and over I actually feel a burn.
