" A couple days ago we made a little outdoor pen to bring out the keets and chicks so they could get some sunshine and scratch around. I brought a box of keets outside and turned them on to the grass. They were so scared that they exploded upward into flight and flew right over the fence we made! Then they started running frantically and randomly around the yard. I started yelling "No No!" and started chasing them. Daniel was watching me from the cow pen and was laughing so I yelled at him, "Stop laughing! It's not funny!"
I rapidly crawled under our porch and didn't hunch low enough and scraped my back badly."

That was a text I sent to one of my sisters. 😂
I have a two inch scar down the middle of my spine.
While I was frantically running around trying to catch them, all I could think of was that famous middle section from Lizsts Hungarian rhapsody no. 2
If that scene was in a movie, that would be the music that was playing.

Random thought…what happened to tom cruise??? Storing nuts for the winter??

I currently have 14. They can be aggressive to each other and to other poultry and pests. They are not very big with a non jumbo dressing at 2 1/2 lbs. at the most.
so what is their desired purpose? They sound like guard birds? Or insect repellent.
Ha! I don't treat them as pets either. They're too flighty.
Can they cohabitate w chickens? Did I read they can live up to 17 years??😱
