I wonder why you have the chicken avatar still.
Have you ever uploaded an avatar picture?
I am going to guess that you never have which is why you have the old school chicken avatar and those of us that did once upon a time having uploaded avatar are the ones with the letters now.

Something ain't right.
Unknown -I will verify I've probably never loaded an avatar. I don't worry much about the BYC interface details. I do notice but leave that to you all to look into.

It has been proven that the ones that joined before a certain date do not have the same software issues in certain areas that happen to the rest of the site. An example is that when the year banners disappeared for the newer members, they still worked for the long term members.

I've been looking into the MIND Diet - it is a cross between Mediterranean and DASH Diets - they are not diets in the pop sense of the word, rather more of a lifestyle change. I was researching it for my parents because they told me dad didn't have a dietician. I'm thinking I might try to incorporate some of what I'm learning, it goes along with the exercise we are all trying to do since exercise is part of the lifestyle portion of these diet programs.

DASH is intended to help lessen hypertension
MIND is intended to help stave off dimentia, depression and a host of other ailments associated with aging

I just checked out a couple of ebooks on these diet programs from the library - should be finished reading them this week.

Oh I'm so glad you're doing this!
I wish everybody would focus more on changing how they eat to better their health.

My extras this week has been going thru the canned goods. Mind you, I’ve been canning every year and remove jars over two years old. With the remodel looming and moving to the rent house, I had not purged the out-of-date jars.
So when I recently processed the pumpkins I had to find room to store those 21 quarts.
I cleared out the pantry closet in the bonus room/hot tub room and the three shelves in the bedroom. I emptied the jar contents into 3 gallon buckets for the chickens..so far 12 buckets. Then I’ve been filling and emptying the dishwasher 4 times a day.

Then sorted and repacked the clean jars for the next use. In the process, I’m setting aside some sets of clean jars to give to some ladies in a nearby town.

In other words…lots of weight lifting…
A box of 12 pint jars is 1.5 gallons of food…jelly, applesauce, taco/chili sauces, pickles, peppers, peas, green beans, etc.
A box of 12 quarts jars is 3 gallons of food…saurkraut, pumpkin, whole pickles, sliced fruits, chow chow, juices, etc.
A box of four 1/2 gallon jars is 2 gallons of liquid…fruit juices for jelly. I over did the sand plums and the elderberries.

It has dawned on me that I have been canning way too much for just the two of us. The extended family we once provided for is no longer around.
I will still make soup starter for the girls, but am going to downsize.

And the new arthritis medicine is helping…the joints in my hands have not hurt this week Opening all these jars. 184000B3-7F98-4DF0-8BD1-68C1DFDF6595.jpeg 50AF2AD3-FA75-4857-A082-1B817FB4D48E.jpeg

What's the arthritis medicine called Nan?

Yes, Ruby even snuck pickled okra from the bucket.

What's the arthritis medicine called Nan?
Arava or generic leflunamide…an anti inflammatory. I’ve been on it one week. End of this week I go in for bloodwork to monitor chem changes since last bloodwork.
